I'm sick and tired of fat people complaining that the evil media makes fat people feel bad about themselves, leading to a supposed epidemic of eating disorders.
a) The gym at my university doesn't have scales in the locker rooms. I asked why not, and was told that it was because the school was trying to promote a "healthy body image". Thanks, but I'm trying to cut down to ~6% body fat from my current ~10%, and I'd sort of like an accurate way to measure as I go.
b) If anybody thinks that eating disorders are a bigger public health problem than fatasses then they're ****ing insane.
c) The biggest whiners about this type of **** are girls complaining that the "Hollywood" body image for women is "unrealistic". It's probably unrealistic if you eat half a pack of cookies every day and don't do any exercise, sure. But, if anything, Hollywood in the last 10 years has been worse about promoting a male ideal than a female. I just saw the new Bond film. Daniel Craig is a ****ing beast. The guy probably benches in the 300+ range. So ****ing what? I don't ****ing feel threatened because some dude getting paid 10 million dollars to make a film has bigger muscles than I do. I'm certainly not going to ask that my gym remove the weight room so that I won't feel bad about not lifting more. Or maybe I should ask that they remove the mirrors so that I can't see that I don't have as much muscle as James Bond.
