This reminds me of the episode of Myth Busters ware they test the electicution by pissing on the third rail myth. They found that the stream of urine you see is an optical illusion, its already broken up into individual droplets after about an inch and thus it cant conduct a current.
This agrees with my experience, I get a sheet of urine verticaly oriented with the slit, which tapers away over about an inche and blends into a stream of droplets.
