Its a good start, next step would be outlawing the koran.
What does the Koran have to do with anything? Wearing a burka is in no way mandated in the Koran just has wearing a hijab is in no way mandated. All that is mandated it that women dress modestly.
Instead this is simply a barbaric local costum unconnected to religious mandates.

But it's very clear when it comes to the what ifs.. if a woman does not wear the thing because she doesn't want to, and she's FORCED as in there will be violence otherwise, then that's oppression that goes too far in western socities. Well at least in most of them.
But it's easy in this case, because violence like that is _illegal_.
Maybe that would work. Given how few domestic violence cases ever get reported though I doubt it will.

Oerdin is fine. We had fish tacos.
That is one of the most disgusting things I've heard here.
Want to be a bigot? Fine.
Want to be a homophobe? Fine.
Want to hate the USA? Fine.
Don't be screwing with tacos though. Beef!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead

What re you talking about? There is no need to learn English to migrate to this country, or gain permanent residency. You need it for citizenship, but not to move here.
OK, I stand corrected. I was refering to a citizenship requirement.

Let's just put it this way, If I was at a Polymeet with Oerdin it'd be a pretty chilly atmosphere (hey, you wouldn't expect a black guy to be all that happy around closet racists would you?).
I'm sorry you feel that way.
I do indeed look down up certain cultural customs such as forcing women to marry or wear burkas. I think there is room to object to those without being accussed of racism. Nor is speaking out against those practices a form of racism.

That is your opinion, women wearing the burka see it as their religious duty. Maybe the origins of the burka have nothing to do with islam, in peoples minds it has.
The koran should be banned on grounds of preaching hate and inequality, and it wouldnt be the first book to be banned in Holland for those reasons.
Indeed... it is disdain for a group cloaked in the I'm doing what is best for them justification. I prefer when I can the racism is actually acknowledged instead of pussyfoot around (not like we don't know... it's even worse done than aneeshm trying to hide is Hindu nationalism).

If it's any consolation I still hate you. But that doesn't mean much, as I hate pretty much everyone. The love of Five Guys goes a long ways towards nullifying the hate though.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.
Oh, and Oerdin, it isn't just about the banning of the burqa either (as Dan said, that's just more a totalitarian move, I won't use Fascist)... I think everyone recalls the hate filled rants about Muhammad and people who'd follow him based on what you thought of him. It's kind of like when we accuse aneeshm of Hindu nationalism and he doesn't see it and thinks we are attacking the trivial stuff. It's the whole body of work.

Spain passed a very interesting law resently. Before each shoot the models must weight in and have a doctor check their BMI. If their weight shows that they are 5% below the healthy level then the Spanish government forbids their pictures from being shown in fashion magazines. I can see where the people who claim this is censorship are coming from but the Spanish government is claiming that due to the increase in anarexia and bulimia this is a public health issue and they are forced to take this action.
Damnit. You may think this is fine, but it could lead to all kinds of normal speech being censored. What about snuff flicks and kiddy porn?
I'm really surprised to see Dinodoc accuse Oerdin of racism. I expected that sort of thing from Imran, but not DD.
As for burkas, I think it is unacceptable to wear something that totally covers you from head to toe. I don't care if it's a burka or a spud sack, it's way too anti-social to be acceptable in a civilized society. Naturally, there are common-sense exceptions, like if you are outside in a blizzard, but for the most part it's just plain obnoxious. I don't give a **** what your religion says or what your mental disorder is - show me your face or **** off.
By the way, I have to disagree with the idea of banning religious symbols in public. Oerdin went a bit far with that one.l

It's fine for you to think that, and you're free to ignore someone who does it, or refuse service to him/her, etc. But that's not the same as having it mandated by law.

We have basic standards of decency in our culture, I think being covered from head to toe in public is indecent by most people's standards.

Too many clothes being indecent... that's a new one.
