Clue: It is not one of the 12 birth stones and is semi-precious
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

When you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is.

            It's a resin, like amber.

            • You sir (Tuberski) are Correct !!

The Tucson gem and Mineral show is the largest wholesale gem, mineral and fossil trade convention in the countery and is a major local event and tourist atraction. Every concivable mineral in any state of preperation is avalible for purchase. An uncle of mine who lives in South Carolina visits ever year to sell SC shark teeth and buy Raw Amber (several thousand dollars worth in 50 pound sacks) which he polishes and sells on E-bay.

Copal is usaly less then 2 million years old and pieces I have seen tend to light and honey colored, its not as hard as Amber and is aparently burned for fragrance.
