Don't worry Pekka, in a decade or threee you might have worse trouble - I'm trying to figure out how to eat, drink and have fun for 1.5K each month - that is actually hard work .

Guess that I'm in the healthy class.

I have a computer and internet connection. Other than that, my financial health status would most likely be considered DOA.

You really don't know what you are talking about - no money, well, then it's easy - Johnny walker red label and such; vin du pap etc. but get some money and then there suddently is a plethora of yummy single malt scots, wines well, it's a bottomless pit

No, Pekka, enjoy your troubleless life as long as you can - you never knows when it ends.

BC; I said I'm very broke, that means the choice is not what whiskey I can have. THe choice is no whiskey. The problem is not what cheeses I should buy, the solution is no cheese. ONly the essential what I'm preparing and it has to be cheap.

Yeah, it's different, but if that is all the experience you have for years in and years out, well you kind of want other kinds of problems

Well, I didn't think that much about whiskey when I was a student. It was more like "can I afford this LP", but I actually allowd myself a good (relatively) bottle of wine once a week.

                      Well, let's see.

I'm £8,000 in debt with regards to my studentloan
£700 in debt in my overdraft.
But I get my rent paid for me and the loan pays for my tuition fees.
And I've got £2000 stashed way in a savings account.

So in total....I'm still £6,700 in debt

Only $15k in student debt? That's nothing.

Yes but culturally, large amounts of student debt mean less to Americans than to Brits.

And you pay silly amounts of university anyway.

I had 25k of student related debt after undergrad. I have over 50k now... the result of me living outside of my means (I do get paid enough to survive, if I never did anything and highly limited my eating out).

Less than a generation ago, university was free in the UK. Hell, they even paid you (in the form of a grant) to go. Since then, we've gotten the introduction of tuition fees, then top up fees.

There's still a strong strain of thought that University should be free since the impact of educated young people directly benefits society, so society has an interest in providing access and support. A view I'm not entirely unsympathetic too....
