Ah ha! Someone has finally injected facts into this discussion!!
So no one thinks that it's significant that a group of newspapers that panders to the military decides to run an editorial bashing the S.o.D.? These papers don't seem to have much to gain from alienating their primary readership. Maybe they're wildly out of touch with how the military feels, or maybe they're printing something that resonates with their primary audience.

Usually, the members of the military (and hence these magazines) are conservative and pro-Republican. By holding these editorials for a week, they could better the Repugs chances in Tuesday's election.

Has anyone looked to see who owns these supposed Military newspapers. Why don't you Wiki it n00b.
And BTW I knew I would get no resposne from Che on the truly important point. With people like him, it is either the same old talking points from the 60's (BTW I love the 60's), an insult, or avoidance of the subject.
Considering that only a fool would consider Iraq to be even close to any sort of victory (unless you were an AQ recruiter or Iran), I think his response was a reasonably valid one.

3 years ago the critical eye of the media was nowhere to be found so relative to then it seems like they are angry. perhaps they finally decided to pick up the slack after being lapdogs for too long

True. If you define victory as destroying Iraq and inflaming the ME against us for the next three generations, we've had a smashing victory. In that case, however, the mission is accomplished and the troops should come home.
More like 300 generations.

I never said Iraq was a victory. If it was a victory it would probably be time to leave. I just don't agree with the point that victory isn't an option. I realize that is a debatable point and am interested in intelligent input from all sides. As for the person who refuses to define victory and just throws out the same old sarcasm, insults and regurgitated comments, that adds little in my opinion.
BTW, did any of you take the time to look up who owns those newspapers. Tell me if you honestly believe the owners and editorial staff reflect the view of the military.
