    Last night was the first time I saw the Flames play real "Flames hockey" to gut out a close win against a top team. IIRC they are at home now for something like 4 of 5 so the immediate goal is to get back to .500 and then move on from there

        I just noticed that the Flames are now only 3 points back from the Oilers and have given up 1 goal more and scored 3 fewer in the same number of games. ITs hard to think of them as the high-scoring Oiland the tight-checking Flames in that circumstance.

        Oh and anotehr stat is that the Flames have surrendered the second fewest even strength goals in the league (17 of 40 surrendered)-- They REALLY need to stay out of the penalty box

        Oh and to those who care, Tanguay looked reasonably good last night. .. . not fantastic or anything but it seems like he is coming around

          He left with 8 minutes to go with a shoulder injury...heard any update?

            Mats Sundin will be out of the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup for 3-4 weeks with a slight ligament tear in his elbow. Sundin is undergoing treatment for the injury today but it will not require surgery.

              MacTavish wasn't happy with some aspects of his play so gave him a seat against Dallas to get his attention.

              Other rumour is that one of the other D are on the block. That would be MAB or Hedja. Hard to trade a guy who is playing the pressbox.

                  Flames forward Alex Tanguay left the game with shoulder injury about midway through the third period and did not return. He will be re-assessed Wednesday.


                  So nope but generally I think of shoulders as short term injuries usually so he may very well be fine in time for the next game


                  Did you see that Boyd got sent back down? meanwhile Prust has stuck for now-- they seem to like his energetic style of play. I guess with limited ice time, skating like a crazy man makes an impression

                            OK-- Just to be clear, you are betting the Flames will be in the bottom eight teams in the league at the end of the season. Obviously total points would be the measure. (sorry to be pedantic but I have seen how the terms of a bet can be lost/misunderstood )

                              They are saying they expect him back against Anaheim but they didn't seem certain ( source: Peter Maher ). Zuyzun should eb back too but Friesen is still out withy the flu.


                              Vancouver will be in tough tonight. I understand they will be missing THREE regular dmen

                              Ottawa-- wow-- they blow another lead -- Gerber did not look good as at least 3 of the goals on the highlites looked very stoppable. Just shows that regardless of all else, you MUST get decent goaltending.

                              Toronto -- losing Sundin will hurt a lot but they have been very good lately. I underestimated Raycroft.

                              Edmonton-- ouch-- Dominik Hasek was quoted as saying he had to make "Zero saves". he basically said that a couple of pucks hit him but that was it. Wow-- and I thought they lacked offesive jump against Montreal

                              Montreal-- a date with the Leafs on a Saturday night . What could be better?
