With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

For starters, a fairly recent notable example was Mayor Jim West of Spokane, Washington.

Among other things he actively sought a ban on gay teachers being hired on the grounds they should not be allowed near children, while actively practicing a gay lifestyle and being a Boy Scout leader.

Another recent member example was James Guckert, who among other antigay articles wrote ones in 2004 alleging that Kerry would be the US's first gay President.

In the cases of Fordham and Trandal, they are both Republican staffers who supported Republican representatives with rather actively antigay political agendas.

With some more research I could dig up various examples through the years.

No wonder these people are so against gay marriage.

That would lock up more gay men in monogamous relationships, and there would be less for them to ****.

No, I'm afraid nobody will be feeling Haggard anytime soon, at least not unless the heat dies down. However, if the stories about meth possession are true, he may soon be going to a place where he can have all the gay sex he'd ever want. Assuming he's not picky about partners. At any rate, he'll never have any influence again after this, so that's one major fundy down. Yay.

The irony of my country ... I still say that this is just another example of those who are the most avid homophobes, are in fact, closet-case d*ck suckers ... and still gays don't have the right to marry and be treated as an equal US citizen. The irony is well....just ironic.

It has always been my belief that we (speaking here for the gay crowd - if I may) make up way more than the paltry 10% given as a basis in sexual studies....does this include closeted gays or individuals who will do (whatever) after a few drinks then later blame it on alcohol...or even bisexuals for that matter? The studies that I have read have been rather vague on that point.

I think the whole sexuality thing is more of a spectrum rather than hard and cut clubs.

Gay men and lesbians have done great work on forming relationships outside marriage. Why stop now?

Extracted from the last paragrah of your religious article quoted joncha:

Equality under the law is nothing to scoff at. But will it make gay men and lesbians happier? In the long run, I doubt it. At least no happier than they are now, and certainly no happier, or unhappier, than heterosexuals. Now that we have it, I wonder if people will think it was worth the fight.
It is NOT a point of being happier - it is a point of equality. We want to be apart of the same laws and regulations that govern and guide other "married" members of our society. Why can't people see this fundamental reasoning?!?

My only goal was in countering Kuci's flippancy with flippancy of my own, not in actually adding anything useful to the discussion.

Would not the truth (in any way one would want to dress it up as) - still lead to this Evangelical's career being over?

Basially, he preached one thing but privately pursued the opposite. How is the truth of this going too far Berzerker?
