I just thought I'd point out the sad, pathetic souls that started camping out yesterday at the Wal-Mart I work at. I got scared when I thought what they'd smell like when they finally got it since we have no shower.

I really can't wait for the Wii though.

          How many are there?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Yeah, this kind of thing makes me feel better that I all I do is waste time on a PC game website .

You'll notice that the NES had the longest commercial lifespan, the SNES a bit less. Both the N64 and the Gamecube faced stiff competition and haven't had the time to sell as bargain systems.

Looks like Sony's shipping less then the planned 400,000 to the US -- many stores are backing out of preorders as they say they don't have enough consoles to go around.

Err...the Gamecube was a bargain system since it launched. It didn't help.

And I realize they faced stiff competition...that's why their sales are on the down trend.

Did any 3rd party developers develop any PS3 launch games? If so, then I bet that they're taking a bath on this launch.

There must've been some. Insomniac (Resistance) is technically a third party, but fiercely loyal to Sony.

Most of the 3rd party stuff either got delayed into 2007 or cancelled outright (NBA Live 2007).

It's amazing to me that their excuse for the delay of the PS3 was bluray problems, but even now their games are largely unpolished, their API is laughably incomplete, their console is missing major features (scaling), etc.

                      What an arrogant company...

There's a reason the things are going for crap tons on ebay atm. The supply is really limited.

So far the PS3 games are, across the board, worse than their Xbox 360 versions.

                                Scores from IGN:
                                Code:
                                Game PS3 Xbox 360
                                ---------------------------------------------------------------
                                Marvel Ultimate Alliance 7.9 8.2
                                Tony Hawk's Project 8 7.0 7.8
Need for Speed Carbon 7.9 8.2
                                Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 8.3 8.5
                                NHL 2K7 8.6 8.9
Universal complaints in the reviews across all these games discuss how the PS3 versions have poor framerates, blurrier textures (likely due to how much more RAM the OS takes up in the PS3), and less impressive shaders.

The online modes of the PS3 games are also pathetic in general compared to the 360 versions.
