      Fixed.

Currently, I'm enjoying Spaten Octoberfest and Sam Adams Octoberfest, and I'm looking forward to bringing home a couple of cases of Great Lakes Christmas Ale this Christmas.

Has anyone tried Sam Adams new Brown Ale? Good stuff.

Had a Blueberry Ale from the Blue Point Brewery on Long Island...t'was good. Blueberries make a surprisingly good beer additive.

Ya -- probably of one common type since we can't have any "elite" brands can we ? ( Well they would but those would be reserved for the party bigshots)

I'm assuming this beer would be rationed too and it wouldn't be too long for someone's brother's nephew on the Beer Standards committee decided that 200ml was a better size for a beer .. . etc etc etc

Agreed Although I can only have a couple before the sweetness starts to get to me. Gotta mix it up.

Commie can keep his free ration of Pabst/Schlitz/Natty Light. I want yummy beer, and I'll pay for it.

I've had the brown... it's ok. I love brown ales. I like Sam Adams, generally. I'm not sold on Sam Adams Brown though. Not sure why, exactly. More testing is required

I didn't have very much, so I didn't get to a point where the sweetness bothered me. Come to think of it, the blueberries added more to the aroma than the flavor. I didn't think it was that sweet actually.

I like brown ales too. For some reason I wasn't expecting much from the Sam Adams one, so maybe I was just pleasantly surprised.

The blueberry beer I've had (and enjoyed) was, I think, made by Otter Creek. Maybe there are others that are less sweet.

A good local brown ale I had recently and enjoyed was Farmington River Mahogany. It was lighter than the Sam Adams Brown, yet more flavorful. Just better all-round. That reminds me, I keep meaning to look it up & get some.

                        Interesting...

Farmington River Mahogany, once brewed in Bloomfield,, is now produced in Massachusetts by the same folks who make tasty Ipswich Ale.
But, according to them it is not a brown ale, but rather an ESB. Except I typically don't like ESB, love brown ale, and thought the Mahogany tasted like a brown. Bah! Good beer, either way.

                        ...

Random shout-out to the best watering hole around:

Look at that list. All on tap. And it's not static... it changes all the time.

I haven't tried anything from Otter Creek.

Regarding brown ales, I highly recommend Goose Island Brown Ale. Without a doubt it's the best American brown ale I've tasted.

                            Had it, was yummy

Went on a business trip to a convention in Chicago, and the coworker I went with (a good friend of mine here at the office) did some research and had our dinner at Goose Island all planned out before we got to Chicago. She gets props for that!

Nice beer selection at that place. I get a bit wary of places with a lot of stuff on tap though because sometimes they neglect cleaning their lines.

Otter Creek Middlebury Ale is the blueberry one I was thinking of. It's got "hints" of both blueberrys and elderberries.

Drink up, or I shall taunt you another time!

Another good one: Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter. OMG, so yummy.
