The truth is nobody needs to stand a fight. If someone walks up to you with aggressive intentions, run.

That said, Aikido remains the best of options

Right, it's not bad if your opponent goes to the ground as long as you stay up. It's just that if he has some skills, you might get choked out and assraped. Or severe ground and pound or the worst possible, other people joining in to bash you. It's just too dangerous. This one is just stupid and seen it few times, when two guys fight, they go to the ground or the other one goes, then people standing by join and kick the downed guy for no reason, not even knowing the guys fighting. That crap should land you in jail. If your fun is to go watch fighting when none of them is your friend and soccer kick people who are down, possibly injured or hurt already, man you are scum of the earth.

And even when you see that happening in Pride FC, and no one seems to get hurt, it's different. These guys are pros plus they expect that kick in the face. They do some defending, plus they have necks made out of iron. When you do that in your own life, it's very dangerous, that's the way you get broken jaws, eyes gone bad, neck injuries or even one of those situations where people go to come or die as a result. Even when pros get that treatment, when they don't see it coming, it's lights out and usually some bed time in the hospital.

I've also sprawled on somebody who shot for my legs, then cross-faced his head into the pavement.

Have you ever been in a fight, son?
Well I have been beaten up numerous times as a kid... does that count?

You can easily miss a strike by more than half a foot on an opponent with any sense of movement whatsoever. Try landing a shot on the button of somebody who's bobbing and weaving and is circling at the same time.

Strikes to the plexus, or the testicles or the eyes require more than a fair bit of skill and luck.
Yeah, you should be prepared to miss badly if another person has a good balance and is waiting for you to hit somewhere. Looks like we were talking about different things. I automatically presumed two things: (a) the guy you're hitting was furious (why would anyone attack another person with bare hands out of blue unless they'd be in a drunken fury, mentally unstable, unable to control their emotions or would have other similar problems?) and thus not having the proper balance to move around in any swift and radical manner after (b) the guy you're hitting has just (succesfully or unsuccesfully) hit/grabbed you first; generally you'd except (b) to be true unless you're the sort of person who gets a kick out of starting fights.

None of the examples you listed has a target radius of >2", so you're creating an imaginary disagreement there...

it's not that bad, i'm only 5ft 8, just seem to be physically incapable of storing any sort of fat
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

is the best comment to OP. Again, realistically speaking, the only thing MMA training will do to you is lighten up your wallet and boost your ego.

Go o the gym, dude. Even with extremely low body fat 57 kg is light.
