      This is a race that should force us to rexamine so-called "common knowledge." Things which are no longer true:

      Republicans no longer have an advantage on national security. Conventional wisdom in Washington is that if the Republicans make this election about National Security, they win. Republicans even launched a major ad campaign to try to do just that. The thing is, this isn't backed up by polling. Currently, the Democrats have a slight advantage on National Security. But more importantly, Iraq is National Security, and the Democrats have a big whopping advantage on Iraq. And short of Osama bin Laden appearing in US custody in the next two weeks, I'm not sure there is much that can change.

      Democrats do have an agenda. Recently, the Dems came out with both a plan called "six in 06 ," and the agenda for their "first 100 hours ." And in a recent Newsweek Poll, a majority of Americans supported this agenda.
      "Remember, there's good stuff in American culture, too. It's just that by "good stuff" we mean "attacking the French," and Germany's been doing that for ages now, so, well, where does that leave us?" - Elok

            It's an honor for me today to be joined by my
            predecessor, President Bush, who took the major steps in negotiating
            this North American Free Trade Agreement;
            REMARKS BY PRESIDENT CLINTON
            IN SIGNING OF NAFTA SIDE AGREEMENTS
            For Immediate Release September 14, 1993

              Clinton had to get it passed though, which Bush couldn't get the votes for.

                  Negotiating does not equal getting it passed. This is basic stuff here, Sloww.

                  Wilson helped negotiate the Treaty of Versailles, but the US Senate never passed it, for one example.

                          True, if we replaced Bush's policies with Henry VIII's, it would be a big improvement.

                            In fact, if we removed Bush from the White House, and stuck Henry VIII's skeleton in The Oval Office, we'd be better off.

                                The Dems sure are getting better at playing dirty. To leak a classified National Intelligence Estimate and then use said NIE in a political ad? Even Rove has to admire the brazeness of that...
