    I quote Hoover again:

"Once upon a time my political opponents honored me as possessing the fabulous intellectual and economic power by which I created a worldwide depression all by myself."

If we were to believe that Nixon was as cunning as you say he was, he never would have gotten caught.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

You didn't answer any of those questions, which were directed at everyone agreeing with snoopy369.

Because the question are silly. Basically you've imagined this serial killer type of person who had no ideas and only backed things because of pragmatic gains. It's quite a silly view and seemingly only backed by bias.

Nixon went against the part line in a lot of areas. The party line as defined by many of the major party leaders. Imagine if McCain had beaten out Bush in 2000 - he'd also be going against the party line in a lot of things, even though he is the President.

                *sigh*

You want an answer? Sure, I believed that Nixon believed in most of the programs he sponsored. He was always a moderate Republican who seemed to believe that the government should help sometimes. I think he did believe an EPA was needed. I think he did think detente was something that should be persued.

It was a trap. You were supposed to call any of my outrageous comments lies. I suck at trolling

Anyway, all those who think Nixon believed in his pseudo-socialist, moderate domestic policies, please see this, this, and this.

Wow, Nixon was a bigot... that shows that all his domestic policies were really Machiavellian calculations .

Did you see all of them or just the first and the last one?

There's tons of stuff like this within the Nixon tapes which are public record, but I just picked affirmative action and socialistic economic policy as examples since they would've offered the best pwnage in case anyone would've baited and started calling me an idiot and a liar without checking out the facts first. Note that most of my statements about Nixon in the last page are his own quotes.

Anyway, Nixon is too demonized, we agree on that.

Nixon was a great president. Especially if you ask my gf's dad (he came here from mainland China).

Yeah. None of that stuff has to do with his policies
