OH, lets count the ways:

1. This isn't 70 AD anymore, and mass slaughter is no longer acceptable, at leaqst for individuals who believe in human rights and all those other fine ideas. I obviouly have no clue what you believe in.

2. Judaism at that time was a mostly localized religion in one area fighting against their occupiers. The small Juwish communites throught the mediterranean do not change that. They lost their attempt at independence, and the occupiers burned down their City, as was the custom back then. Islam is a worldwide religion worshipped by 1/6 of humanity accross half the globe. A "slight" difference, no?

3. Those cities are located in a soverign nation state, KSA, so attacking them is a direct act of war agaisnt that state specifically, the religious symbolism aside. KSA is the worlds largest provided or crude oil, and an ally of the US.

I could probably think of more smaller ones, but I think those three suffice.

if america gets nuked it doesnt matter if we retaliate with a nuclear strike. will that stop muslims? no. will it anger them? of course but at this point it wont matter. will it prevent future attacks? no. will it make us feel better about ourselves? no. Will it be the Christian thing to do? no.

if america gets nuked the best thing to do is move on as best we can and not fall to the level of madness. we would lose more allies than gain enemies if we retaliate in kind.

You can only retaliatewith nukes if there is a return address on the nuke that hit you. To hit anywhere with nukes if you can't hope to pinpoint where the responsible people are is simply mass murder, equal to the actions of the terrorists.

Obviously it seems some people here accept the same murderous ideology that AQ uses, only they believe in a slightly different religious myth. I can only say I have as little respect for such people as I do AQ.

Why are you focusing on Muslim versus Christian. It is Muslim versus West. I know many agnostics, nonreligious, and atheists who are against Muslims, and the Mulsims are against them.

This isn't an example of a religion war. This is a cultural war. Just like a lot of the past ones which were fought under the banners of religion.

and JM, its the "Christian" whackos that advocate retaliation and genocide for the West. I use Christian to set up the hypocrisy of our beliefs if we don't follow them, or even attempt to.

What the **** is the "West" anyways? By that statement, Brachy and I are both in "the West", but I certainly do not want to be in any way associated with his ideology, if it condones mass murder. And Aneesh would not be labelled "the West", but he sees himself as a fellow warrior against "Islam."

Folks like AQ want this to be a battle of X vs. Islam. Anyone who buys into their crap has let them win in terms of setting the agenda.

This is a war between modern political ideologies, which is what Islamism and Liberal democracy are.
