 For what it's worth, in the early 1900s, pink was masculine and blue was feminine.

 This changed over the century, and is now becoming a gender-neutral color to everyone except people who think social standards from the 1950s is what we should be aiming for."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

 Pink is more feminine than blue is masculine.Originally posted by Asher

 Dresses are, by design, a female piece of clothing. Not all dresses are feminine -- kilts, for instance, are not feminine either.

 But wearing a women's ball gown is feminine.

 Wearing a men's shirt in any given color is not feminine. It's a men's shirt.

 I don't see what's illogical here. Men's clothing -> not feminine. Women's clothing -> feminine.

 I can see what you're going to try to argue -- that pink is a woman's color while blue is a man's color. But this is false as well -- women can wear blue without being masculine, men can wear pink without being feminine.

 Freaking out? Not me. Is that what you usually do prior to starting a thread?I'd reckon it's the person freaking out over the very topic they were so curious about, they started a thread on it.

 Ok Asher, ok...if it makes you happy: you are MASCULINE! And there's nothing feminine about finding it difficult to resist the urge to wear pink shirts.I'm very secure about my masculinity because I'm masculine. Period. It's not to brag (I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with men being feminine), it's just how it is. The comment about armwrestling was made in jest to a person insinuating I'm feminine (who, by the way, was also joking) -- you may be vaguely familiar with the concept of humour. ...people like to cry a lot... - Pekka ...people like to cry a lot... - Pekka

 Rubbish. People don't dress baby boys in pink, and they don't dress baby girls in blue. But I suppose they all just want to aim for 1950s social standards.Originally posted by Asher

 People did dress baby boys in pink, and baby girls in blue until World War II.

 Don't ask me why these trends change, but they don't define masculinity and femininity -- they can be traditional indicators for babies (which are hard to tell male from female), but by the time your balls drop, you shouldn't need a color to tell people what gender you are. Most of us don't, anyway."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
