Since defragmentation doesn't really make me more or less secure, I'll stay with Microsoft on that one.

ZoneAlarm is a good enough firewall. The criticism leveraged against it is mostly that it uses too many resources.
Also, to my knowledge, the Windows firewall in Windows XP does not act on anything for outbound traffic. I don't know what Kuciwalker is saying is prompting him to allow programs out to the internet. I usually don't use Windows firewall for this reason, and I just cut it on and it didn't give me any prompt when I tried to connect with several programs. Is there any further information on this matter?

It should, but that's not my point. I believe in checks and balances. I have 2 different programs for a lot of tasks.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
