What kind of appeasements? Is the UK thinking of instating the jiyza tax?

Would it be possible to arrange for this guy to debate with Ann Coulter?

In ministerial-speak "I'll look into it" roughly translates as "Bugger off".

I also remember some news story about local governments allowing religious courts to uphold religious agreements in certain areas, in line with Sharia law.
And why not, providing it doesn't break the law? I think I'm fairly safe in assuming it wasn't breaking the law.

It's more of a general trend - every time some extremist cleric says "we need Sharia law", the response is slightly more accepting. I know we have nothing close to it yet, but important people keep saying they're looking into appeasements to Sharia law, rather than implimenting it wholeheartedly.

Someone find me one criminal law that has been repealed, waived or significantly amended in order to comply with Sharia. Just one. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any.

This thread is starting to sound like it's taking place inside the wet dream of a "Daily Mail" columnist.

The only mentions of Shariah Law in a UK legal context have been some Muslim representatives asking in an offical meeting if it could happen and simply being told, "No" (Albeit without a hysterical lecture about the dangours of Islamofascism).

They could at least have sticked out their tongues after saying "No".

Hence the looking into part. I didn't mean we have or indeed will be making appeasements, but it's not a simple "never going to happen" thing.

The Province of Ontario was in the process of allowing Sharia for civil matters.

Various womens groups nationally went ape ****.

That idea is deader than the dodo.

So in other news, lots more important things went on whilst a mouthy convert (and they're usually the worst religious types, as 'Poly threads regularly confirm) grabbed some airtime and made an even bigger arse of himself on radio than he did on television.

Look, I've seen that bloke before- he's the Muslim With Attitude equivalent of Ian Paisley- every time he opens his mouth, he wins support for whatever group he's attacking.

And surprise surprise, the tabloid scum lap it up, accusing the B.B.C. of promoting him.

I had thought the B.B.C. were a genuinely public news service, not the Home Office's equivalent of Fox News.

And in breaking news, Drogue tells us that someone, somewhere, once said somewhen, that Sharia law was being looked at.

As a form of complementary medicine, an alternative to the laws governing the use of Royal parks or perhaps simply transcribed onto felt draught excluders for elderly Muslims in care homes, who knows....
