The Greeks did form the basis of western civilization if for no other reason then the Romans agreed that their civilization was nothin but an offshoot of the Greek and most western civil institution were last based upon including the medieval parlements which Odin spoke about. The middle east used to be very Greek in culure but that ended around 700 AD.

I disagree with Odin that secularism is a uniquely Western trait, "invented" in the enlightenment. It's unusual in the extreme where Islam holds sway, but not that uncommon in other parts of the world.He's got the Midas touch.

Judaism (and its offspring, Christianity) are not, by place of origin, Western religions.
All three 'began' in the Middle East, which still ain't Western, despite the efforts of secular Jews, Muslims and Christians.
