    My rankings for this week...

    1. OSU (nice win at Iowa)
    2. USC (the battle for #1 is very close)
    3. Michigan (impressive win in South Bend)
    4. Florida
    5. Auburn (low strength of schedule so far)
    6. Louisville (low strength of schedule so far)
    7. Notre Dame (toughest schedule in NCAA so far)
    8. Oregon
    9. Cal (high strength of schedule so far)
    10. Tennessee (tough to choose between Iowa and TN)
    I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt.         I have no reason to dislike the Buckeyes. My sister was 2nd chair of her section in the TBDBITL.

              Saying that the battle for #1 is very close for... Southern Cal is strange. They barely got past Washington State, a team that lost 40-14 to Auburn

                      I'm very comfortable with that one. USC's schedule has been slightly tougher so far.

                      I did bring USC down a notch based on the weak showing against Washington State and OSU's strong showing against Iowa at Iowa. But regarding Auburn, I note that Washington State lost to Auburn at Auburn and USC underperformed against Washington State at Washington State.

                          I note that Washington State lost to Auburn at Auburn and USC underperformed against Washington State at Washington State.


                          Does home field have that much of an impact in your mind? I don't think Washington State is that good for it to matter that much.

                            It depends. Going into Iowa and winning was tougher than going into Washington State and winning, I'm sure.

                            Jarrett was out as well.

                              My top 10, based solely only games that I've actually seen:

                              1) Ohio State (even though they pay their players)
                              2) Michigan
                              3) West Virginia (I think they squeak past Louisville later in the year)
                              4) Florida
                              5) Auburn
                              6) Tennesee
                              7) USC (not impressive, why are they #1 - 3?)
                              8) Clemson
                              9) Cal
                              10) LSU (I like their QB)

                              Notes: 1) Oregon lost to Oklahoma, why vote them top 10? 2) Texas lost big to the only "somebody" they've played, and they've beaten "nobody," so I give their spot to Clemson since the ACC beats the Big 12 anyway. 3) I obviously watch more Eastern/SE sports than anything.
