Fargo seems pretty cool.
It turned to **** starting in the 60's when the new interstate highways basically killed Downtown, shifting development to the SW edge of town. The downtown area, especially Broadway (6th Street), has fortunately had something of a a rebirth in the last few years with the New Urbanism movement and all that.

A couple of times. Most recently this April. I did inside the old city walls quite extensively, but apart from that only the diamond quarter and train station.
