You've got it easy! Everyday he'll ask me questions like "Dad, at the Battle of Saratogo why do you think General so-and-so did this, instead of that" and can't understand why I don't know the answers.

Anyways, does this mean I get to post now?

          • Kiev, right?
So it's a picture from the battle of Kiev in 1941 where the russian lost and Budjenny, the old hero of the soviet union from the Russian revolution, got dissmissed by Stalin after losing him more than a million men.

            or something like that

The sign actually reads "To Kiev!"

Not 1941, and not in Kiev.

              • Kursk (Summer 1943) is only a couple of hundred miles away.

The sign to Kiev therefore indicates the turning point where Germany could no longer win the war in the east, and would hencefore be on the retreat.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Good guess, but this battle happened after Kursk. Another hint: the soldiers in the picture are building a raft.

                  • Ah well then, why didn't you say so: The Battle of the Lower Dnieper...

I just figured that Kursk was a more 'salient' battle given its ramifications...

We have a winner! The Battle of the Dnieper: this battle had the distinction of having the most "Hero of the Soviet Union" awards earned, which really says something considering some of the other major battles the Soviets fought in WW2 (Moscow, Kursk, Stalingrad, Bagration).

                      Your up MOBIUS!
