  • I've started reading Earthsea

and I thought I had the middle two books, already, but I don't. Should I just read Tehanu right now or wait to pick up the other two?

The second book was so inferior to the first book that I actually never read any further. It had little if any direct continuity with the first book so I'd think they could be read in any order whatever, unless continuity is introduced in later books.

Tehanu is horrifically boring, I would strongly recommend not reading it at all.

The second book is decent and the third is great, almost on par with the first one.

why? didn't scifi make it into a really bad made-for-tv movie?

Really, really bad TV movie. Trilogy is actually pretty good, but another of her works "The Left Hand of Darkness "is the best work of a true master.

            Earthsea

            Tehanu and thereafter

I started to read Left Hand... but I got bored. Everyone says it´s great, but I didn´t see the greatness...

Read the first 3 first, though there's not that much needed from one to the next ... things refer to each other, but not horribly so (not like reading Feast for Crows before Clash of Kings or something like that).

Also because she's an infinitely better writer than Jordan.

I personally like her sci-fi short stories the best, look for collections of those.

And AFFC and ACoK were written by George Martin, not Robert Jordan.

                  In conclusion:

                  Ursula Le Guin
                  George Martin
                  Tehanu
                  Robert Jordan
