There is now the possibility this guy is lying. His story does not corraborate with the autopsy.

even more strange is this freaky looking guy has/had a wife who says he was with her in Alabama at the time of the kidnapping. It sickens me freaks like this can find a wife, and I can't. oh well.

It looks like this guy is just some psycho who wants to become famous for something he didn't do.

He definately seems like a paedo. Living in Thailand is a good indicator (sorry to the legit north americans living there).

and he is skinny. . JK. I'm skinny, and I don't want people thinking I'm a paedo because of it.

It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds. I didn't pay attention back in the 90's because I was in the navy and worked all the time. Same thing with the O.J. simpson thing. I just didn't have time to watch tv. Actually I still don't have time (or in truth, desire) to watch tv. I get all my news from Poly. But Poly didn't exist back in 1996.

An O-2 who worked with my Army reserve unit went AWOL after our trip to Thailand because he loved it so much he wanted to move there. That said he stuck to the "of age" prostitutes and avoided the under age girls (who were easy to find if you were a nasty pedo). If you were white and walked down the street you were assured of being accousted by numerous hot women offering their bodies to you, for a price. Some guys love it so much they move there.

Let him stretch a rope anyway.

It's symptomatic that the outrage in this thread so far is more over the sexual molestation than the actual taking of the girl's life.

That's also a bit sick, if you ask me.

They're kind of part and parcel of the same thing. The kid wouldn't likely have been killed in her home (or most any place else) without some form of abuse (sexual or otherwise) as an underlying cause for the murder.

She's not likely to have incurred any gambling or drug debts at that age, be involved with gangs or organized crime, or otherwise be engaged in high risk activities which run a risk of random violence.

Kids generally get killed for one of two things - sexual predation, or domestic violence by a parent or relative or friend of a parent or relative. The remainder of pre-teen homicides that don't fit one of those two patterns is pretty small.

Suburban kids, perhaps. What about those in urban areas wracked by gang violence? There are kids that get killed as innocent bystanders. (However, I don't know how that number compares with what you're talking about.)

In urban areas, gang and random violence related killings of kids under 10 is still pretty rare. Most are domestic/sexual cases. The difference is that rates for late pre-teens and teens tilt more toward gang and general criminal activity with older kids, and that the starting age for that trend is younger in high-crime urban areas.

That wasn't my point. You and others can't wait to see the guy hang or skinned alive because he messed with a minor, not so much because he committed murder.

I've seen it so often; people stumble over themselves to show their outrage over pedophilia, as if it's the worst thing of which anyone could ever be guilty. In this case, the creativity has been flourishing over what to do with the nasty piece of garbage pedophile, not how to punish the guy for having committed capital murder.

This is what I don't get, nor do I think I ever will.

I have no sympathy for child rapists. Fry 'em, string 'em up, go Islamic on 'em, I don't care. I have equally little sympathy for murderers of young kids in general. Same for killers/molesters of anyone old enough, incapacitated enough, or otherwise without the slightest theoretical or practical chance of escaping harm. Typically, those murders have all sorts of added nastiness and heinous acts related to the crimes.

I don't separate the two (rape of a child and murder) in this case, but I'm perfectly willing to fry the SOB whether there was a murder or not - and in this case, the murder, whoever did it, was a direct outcome of the initial sex crime. Same with Jessica Lunsford, and many other cases. These weren't crimes of "oh, I think I'll go kill a kid today, but while I'm at it, I'll get my rocks off on the kid too" a la Rader or Gacy, these are crimes of "I'll find a kid to rape" and at some point, "but I want to make sure there are no witnesses."

So excuse me if I'm willing to hang the bastard for the first offense which should be capital, not the last one. Rape a kid, kill a kid, rape and kill a kid - makes no difference to me - it's a stairway to heaven, boys, and let God sort 'em out.

Regular garden-variety murder of adults or youths can have all sorts of complex motives, side issues, provocations and degrees, so to me, that's much more of a case by case issue.

This is looking like a good example of a false confession. What a sicko.
