That's a dumb idea. I have three friends currently attending MBA school, I will soon be following unless I do very well on my GRE in which case I will be getting my master's in geology, and all three got their empluyers to pay for it. Come to think of it my ex-girlfriend got her employer to pay for half of her MBA and she was working for a ****ty company.

I thought the group name more pediophilic.
This goes way beyond "good old boy" thought. If you plan on spending a career there, play the game. If not, don't. I wouldn't want to stay there.

Japher, you need to be on their good side. You can't be neutral, you need to be one they like. If you start clashing swords from the get go, you won't gain anything.

Now, there's three ways you can benefit from this. By suing them and getting money out of that one, blackmailing them or getting the benefits of that club, or all of these.

To gain any of these, you need to be positioned right. And that position needs to be favoured by the club. There's just no two ways about it.

Choose your weapon and then strategize further.

I'm of the view that you don't need to openly take sides. Since there are higher up elements both in and out of this group, I see it as best to not join sides in a way that could bite you in the ass-- particularly if the new 'MISTERMAN' is a club hater.

Also how formalized is this? Is it just a group that gets along and watches each others back or is it something formal to the point that there would be an actual list of members and they have discussed the things you say the club is doing. The former occurrs in most businesses. The latter is a big big NONO

I'm not going to get on their good OR bad side.

It's not formal at all, just a bunch of guys who go riding on the weekends.

I don't see how you can sue anyone as it stands. I didn't see where this club has wronged you in any way (yet)--

The benefits of the club might be interesting particularly if you want to fool around on the job ( At my new job I have a super-hot assistant so I can understand the urge -- even though my love for my wife would prevent me from acting on it Right Mrs Flubber??

I also would not advocate blackmailing the group. First it seems that you don't have taht much knowledge yet above and beyond what mopst folks know. Plus blackmailing a group is doubly tricky-- You never know when one of these folks might be your next boss

I think thats smart-- Treat them well and treat non-club memebers well and you will always be fine.

While trying to exploit the situation sounds more interesting , I think it is more likely to bite you in the ass than lead to real gains. After all this club just sounds like a group of friends that hand together away from work and protect each other. The only things that might even get them in trouble would be things like covering up sex harrasment.

Covering for a coworker doing nothing-- common!

My boss just came in and apologized to my female coworker for some comment he made. I have no idea what it was, but I'm sure I can guess. My boss is always saying stuff he should, generally it's sexist in a predator/stalker sort of way. Luckily he's not in the club, and they all hate him. I'm just surprised that he bothered to apologize. Though he did conclude his comment with a rather blaze "we'll, I'm old school, so..."

With all the managerial education on harrassment, he's setting himself up for a big fall.

sad thing is, he gave our department a lecture on harrassment. It was right out of The Office, had me in stitches.

I've told my coworkers that I am reporting any form of sexual harrassment from him to HR. I started by reporting it to my supervisor, but that accomplished nothing. It may be that my coworkers have decided to do the same thing.
