The danish version is about an orchestra and A&C isn't that well known hereWith or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

This resolution is doomed to failure. Don't know if any of you realize it, but the "strong" UN force is authorized under Article 6 as opposed to the Article 7 authorization that the US had sought. Basically, it means that the UN force will be powerless to intervene if one side breaks the cease fire. An article 7 force could have actually enforced the cease fire. This is a recipe for future bloodshed, not peace."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

12. Acting in support of a request from the government of Lebanon to deploy an international force to assist it to exercise its authority throughout the territory, authorizes Unifil to take all necessary action in areas of deployment of its forces and as it deems within its capabilities, to ensure that its area of operations is not utilised for hostile activities of any kind, to resist attempts by forceful means to prevent it from discharging its duties under the mandate of the Security Council, and to protect United Nations personnel, facilities, installations and equipment, ensure the security and freedom of movement of United Nations personnel, humanitarian workers, and, without prejudice to the responsibility of the government of Lebanon, to protect civilians under imminent threat of physical violence; With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. Hi Blackcat,
I note your Danish flag, but surely you understood my English in the prior post? I dunno, I read it again and the "duty of care" your nation has to you is as strong as yours to the nation.

Sure I did, but you apparently missed the smiley. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Sorry, no danish landforces this time - they are too busy in kosovo, iraq and afghanistan, but a corvet will probably be send.
Doesn't you swedes have some spare units to send or are they as impotent as that series "The commision" tries to display (no offense, but I really don't hope that it in any way is realistic) ?With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. Our politicians are too wuzzy to send any troops with teeth, even if we have them. We have a very dark unit of special forces that suffered casualties in Afghanistan and were in heavy fire fights in Kongo the last 2 years, but they are only a few 100 men.
This mission needs more than that. LEO and JAS perhaps? No, that would just be a copy of IDF.
But more likely, very gutsy infantry, who can take some pounding and then take their time to shoot back at the right target with precision (as the target hides among civilians).
But on the other hand, even Hizbollah has promised to respect a truce, so perhaps the UN need no teeth after all? But I would feel better if UN had.So get your Naomi Klein books and move it or I'll seriously bash your faces in! - Supercitizen to stupid students

Seriously, though, this recipy of people who "can take some pounding" ( get killed ), and "then shooting back at the right target with precision" is ridiculous. I would like a super-robotank policing the streets, as well as helping old ladies cross the street using his rocket launcher. Well, THAT would solve crime, but it's bull, no?

I quite agree - there doesn't exist some "clean" method to do actions like "only kill bad guys". At the same time , the other option - if you can't do it clean, don't - neither makes any sense, so it is doing your best.
The "pounding part" in CO's comment is a little special. It's not common for UN forces to have heavy units, but in bosnia we send a sqadron of leopards to support our effort and they were used wich neither is common. Take a look at this and forget about the BS'ing on danish impact. I think that it should be standard procedure for UN deployments :
And I excuse if you have seen it beforeWith or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
