It is poisonous, because it's a heavy metal. But that's what kinetic warheads are made of. Tungsten, with inferior operational capabilities is also toxic, due to the same reason.

It's spread by arisolizing when it burns after an impact. It doesn't take that large an amount to cause cancer by getting into your lungs.

IIRC, tungsten, in trace amounts, is an essential element (enzymes use it like molydenum) but there is some evidence linking it to lukemia.
