In the US spec car the RX-8 gets 250 horse power out of its 1308 cc engine. Torque is a bit light as you would expect from a 1.3L engine but imagine if Mazda put twin turbos on it like they did for the old RX-7. They could easily get another 100 hp out of it. A 350 hp 1.3L engine anyone?

It's just an amazing piece of engineering.

Actually, a couple of poeple I know tried that. The combustion chamber and apex seals are nor though enough to endure high PSIs. The engines blew 2 weeks after. But they are working on it, trying to find a way to make it work. Probably putting 3 mm ceramic apex seals, but they have to be machined, custom made, there are none that are manufactured for the rx8 just yet, only for rx7s. The RENESIS engine has a slightly different combustion chamber.

            NASCAR

They should make big rotary engines for NASCAR. Since you only have to turn left, they would have have a big advantage over regular engines.

But rotary engines dont need to be big. 2.6L with 4 rotors is more than enough with 700 HP.

They ship as twin rotars for a reason. They each are opposite of each other to cancel out the vibration.

Spec, yeah I listened to your link.

Not all Mazdas have Ford transmissions.

The Mazda3's only Ford part is the suspension. The Mazda6 has a lot more Ford parts, and amazingly the Mazda3 is more reliable.

If you have a big mass spinning along your axis of motion, it helps you turn in one direction, but makes it harder to turn in the other direction (try to remember the right hand rule from your early physics days). The old biplanes in WWI had rotary engines oriented such that they could make snap turns to the left, but had a hard time turning right.

How can WW1 plains have rotary engine when it was conceived in 1954? This one:

Which is an RX7 engine. Well, almost, it's missing a spark plug and the intake port is on the side.

You must be talking about another rotary engine, like this one maybe?

You talking about a rotary piston engine.

I'm talking about a rotary engine with rotors. like this

                              But replace the **** by w a n k. God damn censor shlt. Cuz the inventors name is w a n k e l
