                      • the French resurrected the archbishopric of Carthago and built this cathedral amidst the ruins.
                        I recalled that it was built by a french archbishop, the primate of Africa. He was pretty active here. The french were forbiding missions among the natives not to enrage the population, yet, after his death, a statue of him was built with a hand stretching in direction of a muslim quater, which caused anti-foreigners riots.
