If you mean "being in the midst of the of them," then I choose Texans. For the most part, they are honest hardworking folks who say what they mean and mean what they say.
If you mean they have guns, are all around me, and have intentions to shoot to kill then I'd like to be surrounded by Frenchmen. Texans are born carrying guns. Remember that great response in the movie "Miss Congenitality" to the protest: "But he had a gun!" which was, "Of course he had a gun. This is Texas! Everyone has a gun! My hair dresser carries a gun!"

French people are more intellectual than Texans.
