IIRC, Frist is the fronter runner among Repugs, but McCain is the most popular candidate outside the GOP.

He's pro-war? Does that mean he supports any kind of military activity under all circumstances, at least in that direction? Or does it mean he was pro-Iraq-war?

ALso, 'anti-choice' So it means you're pro-choice. I love that self-titling of the two camps in the US, pro-choice and pro-life. Do pro-lifers call pro-choicers anti-lifers?

        Yes.

Which is rather obnoxious, tbh, regardless of who's doing it. The two titles describe the difference between the two camps quite nicely; one thinks the fetus's life is the more important factor, the other views the woman's independence as the big thing. Pro-lifers don't have it in for women, nor do pro-choicers, AFAIK, get a thrill from dead babies. We should each just call the other by the preferred title, unless said title is degrading to ourselves somehow (e.g., if the pro-choice side called itself the "non-morons" or something).

I'm quite pro-life, I disapprove of the DP but don't think it as vitally important as some do, and at this point I care less about a candidate's attitude towards a war (we're there now anyway) than his/her competence at managing it, ending it, and bringing the troops home. McCain's not a dimwit like Dubya, I don't think. I suspect that, once in office, he would actually listen to his military and intelligence subordinates instead of using them as political tools.

Really, we concentrate too much on issues and not enough on the character underlying a candidate's positions on those issues. I'd vote for Obama despite his being pro-choice, because he seems genuinely principled and thoughtful about his stance. Whereas Kerry's abortion stance was marked by sickening, condescending pandering; and Bush is pro-life but in a dense, reflexive way, plus he lacks the sense or leadership ability to really do much with it.

Elok, that's what I thought about how those two titles are used. I had a good laugh at the end of that paragraph

A huge majority of Americans consider abortion in itself as evil. The main difference between pro-life and pro-choice is whether they consider it as a necessary evil or not.

Most people on the pro-choice side, while willing to allow the practice, would be happy if nobody had to abort. Being "pro-abortion" sounds like you support killing babies, and in politics, perception is essential.

                  Because I'm a pro-choice anti-abortionist.

That is, I'm against abortion. --But I don't think the decision belongs to either me or the government, but rather to the mother. It's her choice.

I thought most "pro choice" people believed "it is just a bunch of cells", like a polyp, not like a baby.

No, that's what the radical rhetoric would have you believe...but the radical rhetoric from the other side maintains that Planned Parenthood is run entirely by lesbians and/or satanists. Very few are quite so extreme on either side.

Frist is DOA. Allen has a much stronger position among the base.
