      Hmm..

I could not spell it, so I googled my best guess at the spelling and that is what I got.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

On one side, you've got a 30something WR with a QB who knows how to air it out to him, who caught for a thousand yards last year. On the other side, you've got a 30something WR with a new QB, and a total breakdown last year, in part due to injury and in part due to plain bad play.

If someone wants to speculate on Roy Williams instead of a reliable quantity like Driver, they can be my guest. Oh, wait, that was you.

Not to mention all the QBs taken before him.

Yeah after Horn and Williams. Driver has Slappy McInterception on the downslide throwing to him, with a line that hasn't gotten any better and he only had 5 TD catches last year. And we may see Mr. Rodgers this year at some point as well!

            • In what way do Favre's interceptions hurt Driver's fantasy value?

              • I'd have to agree with Imran on this one. Not only for all his points, but Driver is only the #1 WR in GB because SOMEONE has to be the #1 guy there.

                • Less passes that are actually on target. Not just the INs that are intended for the primary reciever, but it shows the man just isn't as accurate as he once may have been.

On the field less as they keep giving the ball away.

                    • Driver is going to have to lay out for one because Mr. Favre accuracy has taken a dive, and when he lays out for the pass he'll get hurt.

                      • Driver's a lock for 1100 yards. No other WR at that point in the draft is.

Whether you think he's good or not is another question. But we're looking at fantasy value here. Is anyone going to be surprised when the Packers play from behind all year, Favre throws for 3700+ yards (and plenty of interceptions) in the absence of a decent running game, and the only receiving threat on the team gets about a third of those yards? I know I won't be.

                        • I'll take the guy who will likely hit double digit TDs and is hitting the magical '3rd year' of WRs than one who is a lock for merely 1100 yards and 5 TDs.

And btw, if you notice, Zopper took Houch before Driver, knowing Speer could have taken Driver if he wanted. It appears even Zopper considered Driver to be taken in the right spot in the draft.

                          • "Likely" hit double digit TDs? In a word, no. There isn't a vast abundance of wideouts who get double digit TDs, and nobody, with the possible exception of Marvin Harrison, is likely to get them every year.

Only seven WRs had 10 or more TDs. Chad Johnson didn't hit double digit TDs. Santana Moss didn't. Torry Holt didn't. Randy Moss didn't. Anquan Boldin didn't.

Even with the best wideouts, it's about 50-50. And Roy Williams hasn't proven anything other than being great in college.

Roy Williams would be a nice fifth rounder, but I'm not going to reach for him, thank you.

As for Housh over Driver: Fine by me, if he plays sixteen games. Housh has an annoying tendency to break small bones in his hand repeatedly, and I hope he can break that habit this year because I like him. Driver can generally accomplish in 16 games what Housh does in 14.

                            • Yes, "likely" hit double digits. He had 8 TDs in a Mooch-ified offense last year. He gets Martz as OC, he hits his 3rd year, and has had 8 TDs for each of his first two seasons.

If he played in every game the past couple seasons he probably would have hit the magic 10.

Oh, and Moss didn't because he was hurt, its only the 2nd time in his career he didn't have at least 10 TDs. Boldin has to share the stage with Fitzgerald, who did get 10 TDs recieving.

Williams in the 4th is most definately not a reach, and should be drafted ahead of Driver is just about every league.

                              • That still doesn't make it likely. TD's are too variable. Let's look at this wideout, for example:

Year N: 117 catches for 1696 yards and and 12 touchdowns. (That's the fourth most yards and the seventh most receptions in history.)
Year N+1: 94 catches for 1372 yards and 10 touchdowns

Is he likely to catch for 10 TDs in year N+2? Sure. But he didn't. (It's Torry Holt in 2003-2004.) If you had 200+ receptions for 3000 yards and 22 TDs over the past two years, you aren't certain to reach 10 TDs next year. So is it really "likely" for anyone?

The 3rd year breakout thing is mostly a myth. Some guys like Boldin and Moss are good immediately. Many, like Holt and Fitzgerald break out in their second season. Some guys like Harrison break out in their fourth. Guys like Driver can take until their fifth, and guys like Glenn can have their best years in their thirties.

I'm also not convinced that Martz makes people that much better. He had a Hall of Fame halfback and two Hall of Fame level WRs. And by this point, to say that it was the schemes and not the incredible talent of Faulk, Bruce, and Holt is absurd. It's like saying Indianapolis OC Tom Moore is a genius.
