I dunno about recommending Flint's alt.hist books. I started them and found them sort of lacking compared to Harry Harrison, Harry Turtledove's, and even L. Sprague deCamp's alt.hists

Did you really "like" this? I found the characters to be very one dimensional and the plot seemed forced. Meh.

Speaking of Eisenhower.... I inherited a box of books when we cleaned out my parent's house, among which I found "Crusade in Europe" by Ike. It's actually a pretty interesting read. Now to tackle my Dad's Churchill books....

The begining of the first book really captures the idea of the issues faced with space travel.

The candidates, the isolation, how to deal with the same pepole in a confinded space for long periods of time.

Some of the terraforming ideas have merrit if and when we do go.

Second and third books did get old

Yeah, well, at least my country doesnt have wooden houses all around the place. And what's up with all those two-direction roads without anything to separate the lanes? Or the Soviet era cars without seatbelts? You must have a death wish if you want to drive from place to place.

I'm in Lithuania right now, posting from an internet cafe using one of the more ****tiest computers I ever had to use.

But there's one thing that makes all those problems dissapear: The little snack thingies with chocolate on the outside and a tasty cheesy/milky/whatevery something on the inside. We dont have those in Israel and it's damn tasty.
