As long as the women agree not to rape any of the men, there should be no problem.

IIUC the reason for the Hindus only rule was to prevent temples from discriminating against lower caste Hindus, particularly untouchables, which was a major social problem in India. Whereas theres no great urge on the part of muslims to go to Hindu temples, so theres no particular reason for the govt to deny the temples autonomy on that.

Seems that in India questions of religious freedom are practical ones.

Can't they just open up a women-only temple to balance things out?

You guys are right that some women want in cause they arent allowed. However or whyever it is the rules of such establishment should be enforced. To me its kinda like women only gyms, men arent allowed so it really shouldnt matter what the institution is.
One the other hand what do they consider women over the age of 50 that are allowed in? And for the smarta$$es dont say Grand ma .I would think if women were banned it shouldnt matter what their age or fertility status is None should be let in.

This sounds perfectly fine to me... if the temple does not believe their deity wants women inside, then bar them. Is the temple publicly financed?

Even if it is.... I would have a hard time condeming them.

If that it is publicly financed which I seriously doubt, then withdraw the funding..... because what religious organization would change a tenant like that?

No, women shouldn't enter the temple. No one should enter a temple devoted to something as misguided and unnatural as celibacy.
