    This was certainly true a few years ago, but I don't think so now, except perhaps for games involving the Big Tall Serve Merchants like Mario Ancic. There was plenty of base line play between Hewitt & Baghdatis last night, for example.

      True about Hewitt and Baghdatis, though I hold that the average matchup still tends to feature too short points in comparison with "the golden age" of Borg, Connors and McEnroe.
      He's got the Midas touch.
