Anyone else notice a lot of rainbow flags and use of the word pride?
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

When I see a long wall of names of kids who died far too young, a tune with a beat is not comes to my mind.
Neither is it something to celebrate but to commiserate their loss and the waste of it all.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

QFT.
And why should the military be especially honoured by the 4th of July?

The 4th is a celebration of our freedom from oppressive dictatorship and of the courage of the men who gave us that freedom.
The military should be honored, because it is only with their sacrifices that we have a fourth of july to celebrate.
France should celebrate along with us It's not an accident that France achieved (temporarily ) its own freedom from that oppression less than fifteen years later...

I like your SNOOPY POSTER! - While you Wait quote.
You are free to object to the men (and women) who put those 'kids' in harms way ... that's one of those freedoms (in the US anyway) that they fought for. The actions of the men in charge in no way diminishes the sacrifice these men and women made for their country.
This is not a comment on the video btw, just on the previous comments

Do people actually like this kind of stuff?
No offence meant - I'm willing to learn if someone wants to point out the appeal...
P.S.
Happy 4th July (well, it is here)

I wasn't refering to the 4th, just to how the video was set up and (mis-)used.

I have no problem with that in itself. It's a different thing imho, to glorify death. I'd rather watch a video on how we can prevent more being killed.

Hmmm, that depends a lot on how the men in charge govereign the country.

God, I hate that song. Always have. It's so mindless.

Yup, idealizing an army makes it easy to forget what it's actually there for: to drop bombs on hapless victims

Title: Proud To Be An American
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.

This guy didn't happen to live in New Orleans, did he? Cause then he might get a nice wake-up call when all his crap was gone and he was left with nothing and no help from anyone. Yeah! But look at that flag! Ain't it pretty!?
