I thought yahoo maps was the best years ago..

then googles came out, and was maybe a little bit better, I am not surprised that yahoo advanced theirs again

google didnt have a map service prior to coming out with... google maps in order to compare the two

i wanted to find subway and bus stations near my hotels. google cant do this....

I would often use yahoo over google.. although I do often use google now

Well, wrt Belgium, it's nice it features railways as well as roads, although in the case of Antwerp at least, it also shows railways that don't exist (anymore). The satellite images suck equally to those of Google.

I'm pretty sure Google shows Tube stops in London, but I haven't really used it for other cities where I wanted to take the subway.

The thing is most of Google's maps vary by country in terms of quality.

Edit: It's Montreal maps are mostly in French, though often the names are in English... "Chemin Queen Mary," etc. It's been awhile since I've been there, but I'm pretty sure neither the English or the French signs call it that.

Yahoo maps have to be good, so they can more easily track people to report to the Chinese. That's what the search engine war is really about!

Ask maps beats both of them, especially in the satellite department (for Europe, at least).

It's a little slow, though.

Edit: Also, I think the way Google maps uses the same highest resolution satellite data at all zoom levels, stitching them together, makes it look like an ugly patchwork. Ask, and Yahoo and Windows Live Local for that matter, do that much nicer.
