Wouldn't it screw up the timeline as soon as he took some advice from her to manipulate the stockmarket though ?
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

I haven't seen the movie but based on the trailer, it appears to be a romantic flick. So, why in the world would the characters be thinking about "conquering the world"? From the characters' perspective, they've fallen in love with each other and want to get to know each other. Making money is not going to be on their minds.

Your scenario would not make any sense:
Sandra writes a love letter: "Oh Keanu, I love you, your hair is sublime, your eyes are like ..."
Keanu replies: "Yeah, I love you too babe. But do you realize the fortune we could make from our situation? Just tell me who wins the kentucky derby and we can wins millions. Yeah, baby!"
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Read a few time travel stories. This is not a question easily answered.

I haven't seen the movie, but the most likely answer is that it turns out whichever character lives 2 years earlier has died before the other one arrives at the lake house. Otherwise why the hell wouldn't they just meet?
          Unbelievable!

Not even going that far.... which is an exaggeration.

They are both passing up the opportunity for fabulous wealth.

I saw the movie (gf wanted to).

It had plenty of holes in it's time-warp idea. And neither character was abundantly intelligent.

Actually, what pisses me off is that it's a piss-poor adaptation of a mediocre Korean movie.

I don't think I am spreading racist hatred or saying Harry Potter fornicates with the devil, am I?

Just saying they passed up a big opportunity.

There are many variable possibilities for what can happen. Two of the theories being...

The observer effect - there is nothing you can do that will change what will happen. Example; kill Adolf Hitler before he gets into politics and another will rise to power and have the same effect on history.

The chaos effect - A small change eventually leads to greater and greater differences. Example; kill Adolf Hitler before he gets into politics and an extreme right leader is elected US president and goes on to conquer the world.

Well after 2 years wouldn't they meet up?

Besides that.... why aren't they using this knowledge to manipulate the stock market, world wide? Hell, future boy just needs to send no talent ##### the stock prices on a daily basis. Daily knowledge of how the stock market will play out could be leveraged into world domination, or at least owning a nice African country(one of the nice ones, maybe on the ivory coast?).

Both of them could be the wealthiest individuals in the history of mankind. They could make the excesses of Nero look like a giddy Sunday afternoon at a Catholic orphanage. They could buy and sell Warrant Buffet and Bill Gates 20 times over… well Warren Buffet significantly more times now, not so many times last week. They could reap in amounts of cash larger then the GDP of some first world countries. They could probably cause multiple market failures world wide if they really wanted to milk it.
