      Not sure what "Ultimate Spider-man" was like, but...

      ...its being done like it was in the cartoon from the 90's.

      Jameson (JJ's kid) finds it on Mars and takes it back. It gets out of its container on the shuttle as it returns and causes it to crash where Spidey saves the day and unknowingly picks it up on his foot. It later covers his Spidey suit and we get "Dark Spidey".

        I think Dr. Connors developed it in the lab in Ultimate.

          Actually, Pete's Parents devolped it as a suit to help cancer patients and those with genetic defects.
