I just looked at teh Portugal-Netherlands statistics and it struck me that the ratio of cautions to overall fouls seemed much higher than in other matches. I don't have time to go look but I could swear that I have seen other matches with 15-20 fouls per team where there were only a yellow or two.

Watching in the second half, it did seem like a card came out for almost every foul. Then again, a lot of the fouls seemed stupidy intentional-- The head butt was one example-- yes the Portuguese player did head-butt the guy and I think that should always be a card-- But from the replays it didn't look like it would even hurt so it was interesting to see the guy go down like he had been struck with an ax.

One that I didn't understand was one for an "intentional hand ball"-- It looked unintentional to me but perhaps players at that level are exepcted to have better control than that

Slight nitpick, the headbutt was NOT a foul because the ref never saw it, IIRC.
