He's been on an absolute TEAR. Whereas he wasn't worthy of being a leadoff hitter with a poor OBP, he's gotten it up to .361
(not that great for a leadoff hitter, but from where it was is incredible). He's got his average up to .302 and SLG to .495! 34 steals as well with 8 caught stealing, which gives him a marginal benefit to runs.
And he's just hitting the logo off the ball at the moment. It just makes the Mets lineup even more scary.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. I personally like the idea of a trade, being a Braves fan. The Braves traded you a pitcher that helped you win a penant in return for a young pitcher that turned out to be pretty good and a major part of 13 consecutive playoff appearances.
Seems only fair to trade him back to you and maybe get someone to help them go to the playoffs another 13 times in a row.

When Lidge came in @ the 9th I told my gf that I was thrilled... not only has he sucked this year but closers have horrible records comparitively when coming in w/4 run lead...
Then when Pods came up I rooted for a walk ...
And of course called the 'slam ...
I'd be curious to see that 'triple' in replay, i'm sure it'll be on sportscenter or something. I was in the boxes on the 3rd base side, above the 'Sox dugout basically, so i couldn't really see it... but the fans spent the next half hour calling every foul ball to the right side fair
I was quite disappointed that they didn't run with uribe (and would have w/ozuna had he not gotten hurt, I think). I think that Ozuna would've tried to score on the second out, behind the throw... but Uribe isn't strong enough.
But the reason that i'm sad is Thome's 0fer ... it wasn't a home-run day, overall, regardless of those actually hit, it was way too cold for his style of booming, high HRs... he hit 2 that would've been gone on a warm day, but just died in the cold.
Brandon McCarthy may have lost it, but he pitched well, in the rain ... and it was raining pretty hard in the 13th... the Sox weren't patient enough in the bottom half sadly, nor were they in the 12th or even the 11th ... and BOBBY ... said enough there ...
I'm really happy with the game, even if the result was not quite what i'd like. We played REALLY hard, and that's how we won last year. Never quit ... and even when Ozzie put Ozuna and Gload in as late inning replacements, to get them some more playing time, they played really hard also (gload was about two feet away from a homer in the 8th...) and were instrumental to our getting back to tie it.
So what's the record for most consecutive games with a grand slam?
