  • Hot or Not: My new town!

As most of you don't know, I've been enlisted in the army, some way away from my home town, the lovely city of Haifa. As a part of my service, I've had to rent my own appartment ( monetary assistance provided by the military ), and I've decided, to rent a 3-bedroom+1living room appartment, with my friends.

But that's not really the topic of the thread. The topic of the thread is the city where we decided to rent- The fine city of Bat Yam, a city of approximately 130 thousand people.

CoStar, the world leader in commercial real estate information, has the most comprehensive database of real estate data throughout the US, Canada, UK and France.

Bat Yam borders Tel-Aviv ( Jaffa, actually) on the north. Central Tel-Aviv is a busride away.

It also has a clean, and well-kept shoreline, with sandy beaches.

However, the city is constructed very densly.

the distance from our building to the next is so small, in fact, that you can hear all the arguments and screams from the near building, as well as the noises of kids shouting and playing from the street level ( the sound is trapped between buildings and cannot escape anywhere but up.)

There is also a problem of crime. Street fights occur from time to time, and there has been a murder in the 2 months that we live here.

    So, hot or not?

also, please introduce the forum to where you're currently living.

I'm living next to Paris, and I find Bat Nam pretty hot, from what you say. For a so densely populated city, it does look good, and it sure is good to have a nice beach next door.

Sound isn't too bad if you invest in double-windows, and crime happens in every big city.

I'll try to find pics that are less sexy. Now it's your turn to post pics of where you live.

          Smartass.

Not the center of the metro - but the pathetic industrial suburb on the wrong side of the banlieu.

I'm on the right side of the banlieue, actually.

              Bat Yam. Too much crime.

I have to agree. The architecture is nothing more then a bunch of blandly colored boxes of various sizes.

The bottom link is a picture from very near where I live, but it's a few years old. All those buildings have been completed.
