    In regard to soccer and the World Cup, I applaud America's ignorance. Anything as popular as soccer deserves to be ignored.

    The harsh fact is that losers in life gain vicarious pleasure when their favourite team wins. It is the only way the dumb masses of people will ever feel a sense of triumph in their small lives.

        Agreed. The Guardian is much friendlier to American interests than the New York Times, for example.

          You are aware that a Chinese newspaper did print an Onion article as fact. When they were told it was a joke they at first dismissed it. When it was proven that it was a joke, they refused to print any correction or acknowledge their foolishness. Kind of like you.
