So, reds, I'm a one trick pony. Lets talk about Filipinas and why you're not interested. Why have I failed to convince so utterly when I have western women helping me with such dedication?

I normally wouldn't put it into words (I've understood that I shouldn't put emotions into words), but I thought it was an experience worthy of sharing with Sn00ps. The point (not too barbed) was made about your attitude, not Pilipinas.

If you can't control, or use, or understand your own emotions, can you really call them your own?
Control: When the doctor tests your reflexes and hits you on the knee, do you control the reaction? No you don't. Yet, this knee is as much part of yourself as your thoughts.
Use: Plenty of things are of no use. Or at least of no immediately fathomable use. How useful is your beard? How useful are your man nipples? How useful is your tailbone? Or, on another hand: how useful is art? How useful is dance? How useful are good-looking clothes? Heck, how useful are good looks at all*?
Understand: Nobody here, even KH in his wildest fantasies, understands one thousandth of how the human mind and body works. Yet, your body an mind are definitely your own, even though plenty of mysteries are left unfold.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not advocating willful ignorance of how feelings work. I'm not advocating a completely whimsical demeanor. I'm not advocating that you let your life be steered completely by outside forces (or by inside forces out of your rationality's control).
However, the thing I've noticed is that my emotions are very much part of me, even if my brain's rational part doesn't have full control over them. Just like my muscle is part of me, even if it sometimes just refuses to obey my brain, when it's too tired. Just like my dick is part of me, even though I would have often liked to have a rational control over it.
All of this is part of me. Because by "me" I understand the entirety of my mind and body, and not merely the demesne of my brain's rational part.

Thanks Spiff, you described who I am currently.
I often use knowledge to understand feelings, in doing so, I have made myself quite emotionless, but at least I am happy. (happy as in content). Nothing angers me, nothing upsets me, I just merely live.
So my choice is to either let my feelings control or let my knowledge control.
But even better would be to balance the two, but how the hell do you do that?be free

1. I'm still figuring this out
2. I imagine each person must provide his own answer.
However, the technique I'm using is to "let things flow", but to create the conditions so that they "naturally" flow the way I'd like.
For example, I've noticed I'm in an overall better mood if I'm doing sports regularily. As a result, I actively pursue physical activity, so that I can "naturally" have positive and pleasant emotions.
Another source of inspiration you might want to look for, are physical complexes. Let me explain: it is very likely that you suffered from physical complexes during your teenagehood. They are a part of yourself you probably used to loathe. And now that you're a young adult, I imagine you have managed to overcome them, to pretty much accept your body as it is. At least, that's a stage many people go through.
Similarly, emotions are something that brutally rational people (as I used to be) tend to consider as a flaw. They're a part of us that we, brutal rationalists, would prefer to not exist. Accepting them, but also accepting oneself as having them, is the first step to overcome the imbalance."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident
