But the islandic fishing fleet isn´t the only one fishing on the oceans
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve." Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"
Nah probably not ... But these are just the mink whales around Iceland not the whole specie.
But we fish quite alot compared to our size so you can understand the frustration fishermen must feel when they just can't kill mink whales when numerous researches have shown that it wouldn't hurt the specie the least if the hunting would be kept to about 200-300 a year around Iceland.
And mink whales do not only eat cod but also "loðnu", salmon and other fish species.

Yes, quite right. But Icelanders should hunt the mink whale, the size of the mink whale stock around Iceland is too big compared to the species that they eat, wich includes cod. The mink whale also eats the food that the cod eats so the mink whale does reduce the size of the cod stock. I would give you a link to the website I got this information if your Icelandic was better.
this kid here, iskallin, which i suppose you know since you're both n00bs who come here at the same time of day, has now admitted that "killer whales" as he insists on calling them aren't really, you know, whales by their definition
I really, honestly don´t care wether they are dolphins or not. Is there a difference between **** and crap? (Whale fans don´t take this too seriously).

So when people are telling you that whales in Japan aren't responsible for the fall in fish population while humans are fishing them record amounts, the perfect argument is to start telling us how dolphins in Iceland steal your fishes -- that'll show us who's doing this for his job and who isn't ([/sarcasm]I presume either of you is a fisher here[sarcasm])
Oh, and what's the difference between an Icelander and a cliff with seagull crap all over it? This rhetorical question surely proved that my argument was superior and of course changes your opinion about this subject into one which is identical with mine!

The mink whale is a whale. Hence the name. And there is no argument abot that. The mink whale eats cod, and food that the cod eats. The mink whale is damaging the cod population.
I don´t think I said that these whales that you call dolphins damage the fish population. I talked about mink whales. If I did that may have been a mistake.
Iceland is an example of a nation that thrives mostly on fishing, wich makes us quite similar to Japan in certain ways. Don´t you agree?
So it is clear: The MINK WHALE is not a dolphin, the mink whale is a WHALE.
I may have called the mink whale beaked whale before and that was a mistake. I apoligise.
There you go. Whales they are generally considered. Hence the name ,,Killer Whales".
Notice how you're using the name as an argument here, considering subtly that it's obvious that they're whales because of their name?
Now, if you would've read this thread you would've noticed how I earlier said that the name "killer whales" originates from a pretty damn old interpretation error -- original name being "whale killers".
Also notice how your other argument for the usage of "killer whales" being "whales" is based on the words "generally considered". In other words, you're presuming that generally, people consider them whales. Apparently you've missed something -- in this thread, every single person apart from Winston and the two of you from Iceland is not considering "killer whales" whales.
So yeah, it's pretty damn idiotic to start countering the criticism of Japanese officials, who were in a scientific discussion claiming that "whales" were responsible for the drop in the number of fishes they've catched while fishing, by saying that "killer whales" (which live in every ocean of the world) eat a lot of fish -- of course they do, but they aren't actually whales!

Well there you go. Now you've proved us wrong with rational, calm discussion. I thank you for your insight which I wasn't aware of before. What was so hard about this?
Have you been there? Was this sarcasm or did you mean it?
It was supposed to make you think about the usefulness of your own one-liner. The point was that both of the comments were completely pointless and unneeded.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
