Whales shouldn't be killed because it's going to take a lot more time to replenish world stocks. We very nearly wiped them out.

And it ain't the orca that depleted the cod. It was the Europeans.

This is like saying wolves are bad because they eat too many deer or lions because they eat too many antelope or cheetahs because they eat too many gazelles or sharks because they eat too many surfers.

I've actually been lucky enough to swin with whales (humpbacks) of the coast of Kaikoura. Wasn't one of the tourist trips either, just me and some friends mucking around in a boat, whales were there, we jumped etc etc.

During the swim, shallow dive etc, the whales (4 of them) slowed down and eyed us all.

Man - I'll tell you what, after that experience I'd never eat whale.

The major problem is not just with Japan or Norway, currently it is with some small Pacific Island nations that have seen the cash and switched their votes.

I just wish that the NZ and Australian governments that keep these countries afloat with aid, pull those cash resources, (but they won't )

Yes, but then killer whales (Orcinus orca) aren't really whales; they're dolphins.

And by your logic, we should be wiping out lions and wolves and all sorts of wild predators simply because they hunt other wild animals that we like to eat.

Why shouldn´t people hunt and eat whales? Just like we BREED for example sheeps to eat them. And it is very easy for people that have a job and are employed to say: I like whales and they shouldn´t be hunted.

No one ever really talked about wiping all whales out, that´s just stupid.

And by the way, I don´t care if they are dolphins, minks or whatever.

What wild animals do lions eat that you and I eat? (assuming your are a guy from the western part of the world ) Sheeps? Cows? Fish? Pigs? or some other sort of a domesticated animal that lives in africa and is therefore in dager of being eaten by lions.
Although in Norway there are isolated incidents of wolfs killing sheeps and they are killed there so your point is rather ridiculus...

And when a lot of people get jobs from whale killing and slaugtering then why the hell shouldn't they be exploited.
Because some Greenpeace arseholes say otherwise. Because the whales are "smart" (if they are so smart then they should have methods of defending themselves from attacks)

And just to get things clear. What should mankind wat if they're not allowed to fish just because there is a risk of overfishing them? Can you come with a resonable solution to that? And no one is talking about killing whales that are on the brink of extermination but whales as the killer whale and the beaked whale, whom both eat cod in large quantaties and the killer whale kills the endagered blue whale.

No one is going to hunt blue whales (Except for the beautiful killer whales who do so often). It´s the beaked whale primarily that should be hunted in my opinion.

Who´s talking about hunting them to extinction? That kind of talk is just plain stupid. And if people can eat something else then why is there a market for whale meat? Are you going to feed for example China with no fish or meat?

The only reason predators don't eat the animals we eat is because we eat them first. We protect our livestock so that wild animals don't eat them.
