Give me a few minutes to dig something up.... I found this hard to chew the first time I heard it too, but it was from a lecture given by an employee of the federal trade commision.

Some in the federal trade commision are pretty pissed, and thats understandible. Clothes made in slave conditions on the Marianas get the tag "made in America".

I was very pissed off when I first learned this, as I had been making a dedicated effort for years to buy American clothes whenever possible and activley avoided all the worst abusers in the textile industry.

Even without the Marianas...(finding a good link now), corruption in the Republican party, is rampant.

How can anyone support a party which does not support its voters interests, but corporations who finance their elections?

The treaty which joined the Marianians to the United States prohibbited our labor protection laws from being in force there until ten years after annexaction. IIRC, the treaty was ratified in 1990, so . . .

Which was 6 years ago. For the 6 years it would be legal to do so, it was blocked by the Republicans.

Oh. I forgot to mention that women there are also forced into prostitution. That too.

Finding good links on this sort of thing is hard... if we make a new thread i'm sure someone has a more legitimate source.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Though that story is heartbreaking, the 3 to a bed nine to a toilet sounds pretty average for the poor in the Philippines.

The rest, if the story is true, is a shameful nightmare and yet another good reason to leave the party.

There is ZERO chance I'd become a democrat however.

I'll check out the Constitutional party Che, thanks.

Dis, I agree. Having nowhere else to go is the staple of both major parties.

how do you feel about tort reform? The democrats vehemently oppose any of it. The republicans pay lip service to tort reform but hardly ever propose any bills to deal with it.

Tort reform is one issue that prevents me from going all the way to democrat from more or less independant. If a dem publicly says they oppose tort reform I'll go for the republican candidate every time.

Think about this, and I mean really think about it.

I wen't to go eat and I was thinking over what you just said, and what I said yesterday.....

                          *WHY* do you vote?

Thats not as simple a question as it may sound. Why do you vote? Do you vote to "make your opinion known"?

Do you vote to try to change/maintain goverment policy?
Do you vote to try to change/maintain effects on your life?

                          WHY do you vote?

I'm interested to hear from anyone, but fellow republicans particularly.

I'm really losing faith in the party.
don't vote republican, vote candidates you support.
