Whether or not the interdiction is still justified does not matter - it probably was in the 80s12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

My problem with cegep is twofold: first, that it wastes one more year before you have a chance to enter university and start really learning. My second problem is that it needlessly serves to complicate the situation both of students from Quebec who wish to study elsewhere in North America and of students from elsewhere in North America who wish to study in Quebec.Originally posted by Oncle Boris
And let me wonder, how do you explain your anti-cegep attitude other than by a Quebecbash trip?12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

The fact is that your argument would have been just as idiotic in 1981. But you may continue to skirt the issue.Originally posted by Oncle Boris

By the way, I have just as many, or more, problems with the Ontario Grade 13 system. But at least they switched back.Originally posted by KrazyHorse

Stop looking at yourself in the mirror, and look at your posts. This thread was clearly a troll in the first place... Second, you've been using emotional invectives from the beginning. Third, I'm still waiting for your dissertation on the superiority of Civil Law over Common Law. Different traditions, different laws.Originally posted by KrazyHorse
I love how your persecution complex works. I blast Quebec for being obviously ridiculous and you start whining about how everybody has it in for Quebec.
Why do you want her so badly to change her name that you will cry outrage if they won't allow you? You keep claiming you don't care, but what you're really doing is whining because an antiquated custom has been banned. The Civil Law position is actually quite pragmatic: 1 person = 1 name, that's it.In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

You will note that it is SHE who wants to change her name, not KH.
I went out of my way to tell my wife that I had no expectation that she would change her name, and that if she chose not to I wouldn't mind in the least. She *chose* to change her name.
The government not allowing such a thing? Madness!

No, that isn't it. It allows you to change your name for reasons XYZ, simply not for marriage, and not because you feel like it. The common law position is much better. You can change your name to whatever you want for whatever ****ing reason you feel like, as long as the purpose isn't fraudulent.Originally posted by Oncle Boris

No, what I'm whining about is that the Quebec government is unnecessarily restricting my freedom, your freedom and everybody else's freedom to be referred to by whatever ****ing name we feel like on official documents.
It's yet another of the big brother laws that Quebec is so fond of. **** Quebec.
