Unless of course you count the Norman Conquest of England. That went swimmingly.

Saying "gooder" doesn't mean you have aspergers, it just means you're a moron.

I personally cannot get to sleep if there's a clock ticking.
Same here, drives me up the wall but I don't think that and being a geek would be enough to qualify you as an aspie or I'd be one too...

If you only consider geekiness plus one tiny other aspect then no-one's going to qualify as being an Aspergers sufferer, ever...

But who knows. Anyone want to diagnose me?
Why should we diagnose you? We're no experts in psychology. If you want to know if you have it, get diagnosed.

Sorry, Gibsie, that was mean of me. I suppose it is possible that you could be a social ******, not a moron.

I wasn't being entirely serious. I meant if anyone thinks that sounds like it, or I'm just being silly, give an opinion. As it is, I wish I hadn't posted all that (Or at least the plea for spammers to give their two cents) given the responses its got now.

Also I would like to add back in to a post saying that General Ludd is in fact a three star twit.

Gibsie, same here. (Clock ticking. their owners should be shot)

We've both been laid though. I've talked to a major league Aspie on ICQ before. I had met him on some forum based on Ascendancy (the game...). That guy was building entirely new world sets for the game, graphics, rules, everything. Had dozens of suicide attempts behind him, and told me he'd probably never meet a woman in his life due to his condition.

                          THAT's an aspie for you.

Gibsie, seriously, to qualify as an Aspie, you need to meet numerous things. Make a checklist, you know. Mild to severe social inabilities, very strong interests in narrow subjects, possibly mild issues with coordination/motor skills. It's also noteworthy how some of the interests tend to be common for Aspies - computers, (public) transportation, being attracted to the number Pi... also, the checklist would include using different language - doesn't have to be a language impairment, but can be an unsual way of speaking. And, of course, people with Asperger's have better-than-average memory, or even eudetic memory.

                                Thanks for the decent replies.

The thing is, I do meet most if not all the items, but only in mild ways. For example, "social impairments, narrow but intense interests, and speech and language peculiarities." people who've known me a long time would say yes to the first and perhaps to the third, and I would say definitely to the second.

"People with Asperger syndrome lack the natural ability to see the subtexts of social interaction (sometimes resulting in well-meaning remarks that may offend and so on, finding it hard to know what is "acceptable") and also tend to lack the ability to broadcast their own emotional state." the first bit certainly rings a bell, and the second I don't seem to me, but I'm not certain if it's because I can't or if I just don't hold the emotional state to begin with, e.g. when my grandmother died, my girlfriend told me I could talk to her about it, implored me to, but I felt no need nor desire to.

"Some make very little eye contact because they find it overwhelming, whereas others have unmodulated, staring eye contact that can cause discomfort to other people." A friend I hadn't seen in quite a while said this about me, but it could easily have been because he was being a moron on the day, and I had no desire to look at him so closely.

"some people with Asperger syndrome are nearly normal in their ability to read and use facial expressions and other subtle forms of communication. However, this ability does not come naturally to most people with Asperger syndrome. Such people must learn social skills intellectually, possibly delaying social development until later in life." My social development was certainly severely stunted until the beginning of last year. I just didn't care for it, but then I had to, so I actively learnt ways of doing so, it didn't come naturally.

and so on and so forth. Perhaps going to see an actual specialist would be the best idea like Bill3000 says, but that's such a draaaaaaag...
