Here's where John wrote the book of Revelations while in exile.

Called 'Jerusalem of the Aegean', Patmos is an island made up of rocks and bays, its atmosphere biblical and peaceful. Other sites of particular interest are the church of Evagelistria, the monastery of Panagia Koumana & the Grikos church. Patmos has beautiful beaches: Merikas, Meloi, Agriolivadi, Lambi & Psili Ammos, just to name a few.

The use of the number 666 as a personification of evil comes from the Bible:


Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.

Then, it continues later:

The smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. They have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.

Numbers are a convenience, contrived by man.
In eternity, what use are numbers? Satan will present himself as a man.

So wait, he's saying that there non-human numbers? Is he trying to say that there are numbers we can't understand so let's just say that his number is 666? What purpose does that serve exactly?

If Satan presents himself as a man does that mean that he will be in the same kinda, sorta mortal situation as Jesus?

I wonder if anyone will name their kid Damian on 6/6/06. I had a waiter at Texas Roadhouse with that name. He wasn't goth at all so I was disappointed.

One think I know for sure from symbolism.

6 is the number of imperfection/incompleteness. 7 the number of perfection and the great unity.

And if I'm right, 6 is representing the 2 inverse triangle of the stars of David. And 7 is the sames symbols but with a circle encircling them or a point in the center of the stars of David. The circle means the unity of the force. The presence of God in the creation.

In Apocalypse/Revelation; you have the 7 church, the 7 lamp of the Jesus, the 7 spirit of God, etc... Which are always reprensenting the idea of wholiness.

Revelation 13:16-18:

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."

I recently heard a most interesting revisionists idea on this passage. The purpose of it is to connect Nero with Satan, the same way Jesus is the human manifiestation of God. That is, the Beast = Nero.

If you take the Greek letters that spell out "Emperor Nero," assign numbers to them and add up the numbers, they total 666.

Nero's image was on all Roman coins, so every man received upon his hand the name or number of the Beast in order to engage in commerce, just means people with be using Roman coins.

According to historian explaning this, at the time of the writing of Revelations, Nero was so reviled, hated and fear that is was predicted that, as the anti-Christ, Nero would rise from the dead, the same way that Christ did.
