I might consider using that approach myself one day, in the unlikely even of me both suffering irreparable brain damage, and becoming a colossal bell-end.

Good thing you did, too, or I might not have noticed it. That was a rather nonsensical rant, trying to lump together "sociopathy" and "Asperger's," despite the two being essentially polar opposites. Sociopaths stifle under order or restrictions of any kind, tend to manipulate others easily, and usually turn to crime. Whereas we aspies generally hate uncertainty, thrive on order, are more likely to be manipulated than manipulate, and have a strange phobia about rule-breaking. We can appear callous, but it's mostly because our social ineptitude makes it difficult to emotionally bond with others.

I haven't met many of my own kind, but most of those I have met found Rand utterly repellent. We're more likely to be commies than objectivists--rampant laissez-faire capitalism tends to favor the kind of creeps who take advantage of people like us. Of course, we're not a monolithic group by any means, but I can't imagine why we would necessarily sympathize with Objectivism.

Sorry Elok. You're right, it's unfair to associate Asperger's and sociopathy.

I can't imagine why we would necessarily sympathize with Objectivism.

I wasn't making a statement about Rand. Don't know who they are. Couldn't care less about one more American political whacko.

The statement simply appealed to me in a more general sense in terms of ... people "who are so preoccupied with preserving the crystalline perfection of their own internal logic that they fail to spot that when viewed as a whole their philosophy is barking mad."

I like it, it's concise. It neatly sums up how I feel about some 'coherent systems of thought.'

I didn't see it as disparaging genuine sufferers of Asperger's. Sorry for the mistake and thanks for setting me straight.

Oh. I thought this was another "Wheel of Time" thread.

You've lost the plot, haven't you? Go on- see if you can find some other unconnected smear tactic in lieu of anything actually credible. You've already alienated both sides of this particular debate so it's not as if you've got anything to lose.

No it isn't, at least as far as this forum is concerned.

Randism is, at heart, a sociopathic doctrine that appears to have some sort of compelling fascination to Aspergers sufferers.

We've had these discussions on this forum for years, and a large number of the Rand enthusiasts were (or have since revealed themselves to be) Aspergers sufferers.

That's not in any way calling Aspergers sufferers sociopathic, or saying that all Randists are Aspergers sufferers.

Ack, "Aspergers sufferers." Do you call AIDS "the gay plague" too?

...oh, let's just drop the argument. Just bear in mind that you come across as insensitive, if not downright rude.

Why don't you STFU you sad old plagiarist. Ozzy responded to my one line BAM with an equally pointless one. So I responded with an equally pointless piece of crap.

The last thing needed was a clueless plonk to come in and take it seriously.

And stop plagiarizing Viz. It makes you look like a tool.

Ummm, actually, I was envisaging a happy little yellow fella chafing his hands and warming them by the fire, or something. Obviously, I had the wrong kind of chafing in mind.

                              Still so much to learn,..
